Steve Mueller

Dr. Stephen Mueller is Associate Professor of Management & Entrepreneurship and Director of the International Business Center at Northern Kentucky University. He received his Ph.D. in International Management Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1994. He also holds an MBA from University of Texas at Arlington, a Masters in Accounting degree from University of Texas at Dallas, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. Prior to joining the NKU College of Business faculty in 2004, Dr. Mueller was a member of the M.J. Neeley School of Business faculty at Texas Christian University for four years where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship, strategic management, and international management. Prior to joining the TCU faculty, he was Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and International Business at Florida International University for six years where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in international business, entrepreneurship, and strategic management.
Dr. Mueller's executive management experience spans 15 years. During that time he founded a regional computer distribution company -- directly managing all functional areas of business including marketing, finance/accounting, and operations. Before starting his own business, he held a variety of executive level positions with regional, national, and multinational companies in the computer industry.
Dr. Mueller's area of expertise is international entrepreneurship--a field of inquiry that seeks to understand the process of new venture creation within the context of a global economy. His research has appeared in top management, entrepreneurship, and international business journals including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, Management International Review, and Journal of International Business Studies. As a 16 year member of the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business, Dr. Mueller has presented numerous papers at international conferences in North America, Europe, and Latin America.
